Buttercup - Ranunculus fascicularis
The earliest of the Buttercups,
Early Buttercup blooms in late April or early May. Many of the earliest
blooming flowers of Ontario are yellow in colour. Coltsfoot, Marsh Marigolds
and the ubiquitous Dandelion are examples of this.
Early Buttercups have a larger
flower and a different leaf structure than summer Buttercups. However,
they still retain the distnct shiney yellow glow of the Buttercup family.
